5 April Fools' food pranks your kids will love

April Fools’ Day is the perfect day to spread the joy that comes from practical jokes and hoaxes. This year, turn April Fools' Day into April Foods' Day with our list of fun, safe and delicious April Fools’ food pranks guaranteed to keep your kids smiling.

Unusually Cold Cereal

The night before you plan on pulling your frozen cereal prank, pour 1 cup of milk into a medium-sized cereal bowl, place a spoon inside the bowl and freeze. The next morning, spread Snack Pack® Vanilla Pudding evenly on top of the frozen milk. Top with your favorite breakfast cereal and watch your kids try their hardest to eat their breakfast!

Meaty Dessert

This April Fools’ Day, serve your kids up a meaty dessert they won't forget. First, prepare this Saucy Meatloaf recipe, dividing the beef mixture between two 8-inch round cake pans. Before you place your Saucy Meatloaf cakes in the oven, make sure you don't spoon the reserved Sloppy Joe sauce over the top of the meat mixture. Once your meatloaf is cooked through and has cooled for 10 minutes, place one of the meatloaf layers onto a large plate and top it with an even layer of mashed potatoes. Next, place your second meatloaf cake on top of the mashed potatoes. “Ice" your meatloaf cake with cream cheese and decorate with cherry tomatoes and a sprig of basil. Your kids won’t know their delicious dessert is really meatloaf until they taste it!

Sneaky Sundae

To create these sneaky sundaes, simply skip the garnish in this Garlic Mashed Potatoes recipe. Once your mashed potatoes are prepared, use a small ice cream scooper and place two scoops of mashed potatoes into a small waffle bowl. Top with a drizzle of gravy. Don’t forget to garnish your sneaky sundae with a cherry tomato on top!

Egg Em’ On

Egg your kids on with this vanilla pudding and apricot sunny-side up surprise. Just place 2 spoonfuls of Snack Pack Vanilla Pudding onto a small plate. Then, with a pastry brush, shape the pudding to resemble the egg whites of a fried egg. To create your "egg yolk," place half of a pitted apricot half face down into the middle of the vanilla pudding. Really trick your kids by serving your sunny-side up surprise with a side of toast and marmalade.

Not Your Average Cookie

Your kids will never know that you stole their cookies from the cookie jar and replaced the frosting of their favorite sandwich cookies with Reddi-wip®. To prank your kids with these joyful and unexpectedly tasty cookies just remove the filling of their favorite sandwich cookie and replace the frosting with a whoosh of Reddi-wip. Reassemble your cookies and freeze them overnight for frozen Reddi-wip cookies.
